Kimberly "Kim" Campbell (portrayed by Angela Griffin) is an art teacher and head of pastoral care at Waterloo Road Comprehensive School. She returns in Series 11 as the Headteacher.

She is committed and capable and was liked by the whole school. When she fell for the then executive headteacher's charms (Max Tyler) she was left pregnant, and after giving birth to Dexter, she left the school to pursue motherhood.

Personal Storyline[]

Series 1[]

At the start of the series Kim has a shaken relationship with the new deputy head Andrew Treneman as a battle of wills begins. But they talk together during Tom Clarkson and Lorna Dickey’s wedding and an attraction starts between them. In the next episode, she creates a counselling scheme, particularly for Yasmin Deardon as her brother, Adam Deardon was killed in a car crash. This helps the conflict with Donte Charles after the car crash as some of the school believed he was the cause of the crash, but at the end of the day Kim realises Andrew's scheme may work.

Later on in the series, Andrew and Kim become suspicious of Steph Haydock’s class marks rising dramatically they decide to tell the head Jack Rimmer. When the school is about to become closed by the LEA inspector Kim, Jack and Andrew organise an open day to keep the school open, it helps a little but the school is still threatened by the LEA. But it does draw Kim and Andrew closer. Lewis Seddon though, is given detention and while in the cooler corners Kim and threatens her. While it scares her confidence and traumatizes her she decides not to leave the school.

Series 2[]

The school has started to change in many ways since the new addition of Roger Aspinall to the governing board. Kim finds some of the changes hard but is ultimately happy with them. Further on in the series she expresses concern about a sexual assault of a girl from the school, and clashes with Grantly Budgen but not for the first time. But Kim finds similar she has similar views to Andrew as they work tirelessly to find the attacker of the girl.

After the assault mystery is solved, Kim and Jack deal with consequences of a work placement gone wrong. As Andrew and Kim grow closer though they are overshadowed by Lorna Dickey's stress. But as the series nears the end Kim's relationship with Andrew is either going to shatter or thrive.

At the end of the series Andrew drops a bomb shell on Kim when he tells her that he is leaving for Rwanda, and he asks her to go with him. She takes a leap of faith and goes with him, and at the start of Series 3 it is mentioned that Andrew and Kim were on "sabbatical", suggesting that they would both make a return.

Series 4[]

Kim later returns in Series 4 Episode 11, bringing with her a baby "daughter", Grace. At first it seemed Grace was her own daughter, however Kim later confessed to Steph that she illegally smuggled in Grace from Rwanda. In her return episode, Kim has many arguments with deputy head Eddie Lawson over their opposing views. Eventually, Immigration became suspicious of Kim and made an appointment to look around her home; Steph however had taken Grace away while the investigation was taking place leaving Kim in the clear. This was not to last as the officials stepped up their investigation and eventually found Grace at Waterloo Road while Kim was helping Chlo Grainger to deliver her baby. A distraught Kim watched on as Grace was sent away, back to Rwanda.

Andrew Treneman returns for a fundraising day at the end of the series and Kim blames him for Grace being taken away. Andrew confesses to Kim that he realised that she was unhappy in Rwanda and that they should have come back sooner. However, they make up and at the end of the series it looks as if the two of them have got back together.

Series 5[]

Kim is seen alongside Rachel Mason and Max Tyler at Waterloo Road as they merge the school with John Fosters. New deputy head Christopher Mead and executive head Max Tyler also head up the team as former John Foster's deputy head and headteacher respectively. Despite many differences with Max's methods and siding with close friend Rachel against Max, she engages in a relationship with him unaware that he is married, and also in a separate relationship with Helen Hopewell. She is put in a difficult position when Rachel confides in her about her harsh feelings towards Max and struggles to cope with maintaining the balance of peace between the two factions. When Kim found out about Max hitting Philip Ryan, she immediately told Rachel and ended her relationship with Max for good after he left Waterloo Road, horrified that he could do such a thing to a pupil and have no remorse for it at all.

It is then revealed that she is pregnant with Max's child. She tells Rachel and Chris her news and they seem shocked, especially when she tells them that she isn't going to tell Max about the baby. Later on the episode a pupil is abducted by their father, and Rachel follows them, this makes her pregnancy really hits home and she becomes really upset about the situation. Kim asks Chris to come with her to the scan and he agrees. Kim gets told that it is a boy she is carrying.

After Michaela White is rejected from the APU scheme, Kim rants on at Chris for not accepting her into it. In Series 5 Episode 18, Kim gave birth to her son Dexter Campbell by an emergency C-section. In Series 5 Episode 19, Kim is stressed from the baby so when Chris wants to be with her she is tired. She says it isn't right, Chris changing her baby's nappies when they haven't even been out on a date! She breaks up with him. Chris storms out saying he is a fool for trying to make it work. Kim left at the end of the series to go on maternity leave.
