Estelle Cooper is the secretary at Waterloo Road in the fist series and she was portrayed by Judith Barker. She resigns from her job after series 1 and before Series 2, leaving Jack without a secretary at the start of a new term.

You could say she likes a good gossip and she is always snooping in other people business. She has a good working relationship with Headteacher Jack Rimmer, and displays strong loyalty towards him.

Estelle Cooper is the School Secretary throughout series 1. In the first episode of series two jack quotes she left in a hurry.

- Judith Barker returned to the show for a few episodes of the final series, appearing as Grace, an old woman in a care home whom Darren Hughes and Rhiannon Salt befriend.
- This makes her the only actor to appear in both the first and last series.
